About Sikh Welfare Society Hoshiarpur

Sikh Welfare Society Hoshiarpur was formed in 1991 with blessings of Waheguru. It started with the first kirtan darbar with Mahant Tara Singh Ji's advice (from Gurdwara Mithaa Tiwana), support of Sant Anoop Singh Ji and the initiative of Sardar Ajwinder Singh. Since then the Organization has been doing volunteer work for betterment of Sikhi and humanity. The organization has organized kirtan darbars, turban tying contests, Nagar Kirtans and Turban Awareness Campaigns.

The Society has been doing welfare work by arranging wedding ceremonies of poor girls, paying for eduaction of needy children and distributing needed supplies to needy families. Apart from this, we have been doing humanitarian work in places that suffer a natural diaster. Our organization also donated 20,000Rs FDR to the families of some of those who died in the Kargill war.

Currently, an Ambulance Service is being started to get those injured in roadside accidents to the hospital. The land donated by the muncipality of Village Singliwara, near Jalandhar bypass has been converted into a Mortuary with capacity to hold six dead bodies. A mortuary van is also being prepared to help in performing the last rites of the dead bodies.
